Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health Entities Agreed to Pay $2.1 Million for Allegedly Violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law by Submitting Claims for Tests Not Ordered by a Physician

After they self-disclosed conduct to OIG, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health, Cheshire Medical Center, Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital, Dartmouth Hitchcock Clinic, and New London Hospital, (collectively, “the D-HH entities”), New Hampshire, agreed to pay $2,171,074.61 for allegedly violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law. OIG alleged that the D-HH entities improperly submitted claims to Federal health care programs for outpatient diagnostic tests (both imaging and clinical lab) when those tests were not ordered by treating physicians (or another licensed practitioner operation within the scope of their license).
