Christopher Mallavarapu, MD Agreed to Pay $305,000 for Allegedly Violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law by Receiving Remuneration in Exchange for Ordering Durable Medical Equipment, Genetic Testing, and Prescription Medications

On April 15, 2025, Christopher T. Mallavarapu, MD (Dr. Mallavarapu), Amherst, New York, entered into a $305,937.50 settlement agreement with OIG. The settlement agreement resolves allegations that Dr. Mallavarapu received remuneration, in the form of monetary payments related to telemedicine and diagnostic consultations, from various telemedicine and staffing companies in exchange for ordering and prescribing durable medical equipment, genetic testing, and prescription medications for Medicare beneficiaries.
