Bruce Boynton, MD Agreed to Pay $48,000 for Receiving Remuneration in Exchange for Prescribing Medications

On August 31, 2022, Bruce Boynton, MD (Dr. Boynton), Asheville, North Carolina, entered into a $48,790 settlement agreement with OIG. The settlement agreement resolves allegations that Dr. Boynton solicited and received remuneration from two telemedicine companies, in the form of monetary payments, in exchange for prescribing medications for Medicare beneficiaries he never examined and with whom he had no physician-patient relationship. Senior Counsel Michael Torrisi with the assistance of Chief Investigator Amber Mahmood, represented OIG.
