After it self-disclosed conduct to OIG, Boston Heart Diagnostics Corporation (Boston Heart), Massachusetts, agreed to pay $641,129.79 for allegedly violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law. OIG alleged that Boston Heart, a laboratory, paid remuneration to three physician practices by providing phlebotomists who performed duties for these physician practices that were outside the scope of their phlebotomy duties.
