Aspirus St. Luke’s Hospital Agreed to Pay $276,000 for Allegedly Violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law by Submitting Claims for Services for Services that Were Not Medically Necessary or Failed to Meet Coverage Criteria

After it self-disclosed conduct to OIG, St. Luke’s Hospital of Duluth d/b/a Aspirus St. Luke's Hospital (Aspirus), Duluth, Minnesota, entered into a $276,444.09 settlement agreement with OIG. The settlement agreement resolves allegations that Aspirus submitted claims for esophagogastroduodenoscopies and screening colonoscopies that did not meet medical necessity requirements or otherwise did not meet coverage criteria.
