Alex De Jesus, MD Was Excluded for Defaulting on Payment Obligations
On March 6, 2025, OIG excluded Alex De Jesus, MD, San Antonio, Texas, for defaulting on his payment obligations under a Settlement Agreement (Agreement) with the Department of Justice and OIG. Dr. De Jesus previously entered into the Agreement for: (1) submitting claims for auricular electro-acupuncture devices, including the STIVAX device, by submitting claims for Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) codes, including L8679, which did not qualify for reimbursement because the devices applied to patients were not a neurostimulators; and (2) receiving kickbacks to prescribe compounded medications. The exclusion goes into effect immediately and will remain in effect until OIG reinstates Dr. De Jesus. In order to be eligible for reinstatement, Dr. De Jesus must cure the default of his payment obligations in the Agreement.
