Afrooz Javanford Agreed to Be Excluded for 20 Years for Paying Remuneration to Beneficiaries

On October 29, 2021, Afrooz Javanford (Javanford), Beverly Hills, California, agreed to be excluded under 42 U.S.C. 1320a-7(b)(7) for 20 years. The investigation revealed and OIG alleged that Javanford offered and paid improper remuneration in the form of free nutritional shakes to bariatric patients to induce such patients to purchase, order, and/or arrange for the purchasing and/or ordering of certain prescription drugs, namely scar creams and metabolic supplements, for which payment was made in whole or in part by the Tricare program.
