Fort Bend Agreed to Pay $4.5 Million for Allegedly Violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law by Submitting Claims for Services that Lacked Proper Authorization

After it self-disclosed conduct to OIG, Fort Bend County, Texas, agreed to pay $4,526,740.26 for allegedly violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law. OIG alleged that Fort Bend County submitted claims for ambulance transportation services provided to beneficiaries which were improper because Fort Bend County failed to obtain the necessary beneficiary authorization for ambulance transports.
