Issued on  | Posted on  | Report number: A-01-09-00011

Report Materials

The Maine Department of Health and Human Services (the State agency) made disproportionate share hospital (DSH) payments totaling $52.2 million ($33 million Federal share) to the Riverview Psychiatric Center for State fiscal years (FY) 2007 and 2008. The DSH payments totaling $24.6 million ($15.6 million Federal share) that the State agency claimed for FY 2007 did not exceed the hospital-specific DSH limit imposed by Federal requirements and the State plan. However, the DSH payments totaling $28 million ($17.5 million Federal share) that the State agency claimed for FY 2008 exceeded the hospital-specific DSH limit by $2.1 million ($1.3 million Federal share).
