Santiam Memorial Hospital Agreed to Pay $460,000 for Allegedly Violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law by Submitting Claims for Transportation Services without the Required Beneficiary Signatures

After it self-disclosed conduct to OIG, Santiam Memorial Hospital (Santiam), Oregon, agreed to pay $460,598.03 for allegedly violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law. OIG alleged that Santiam submitted claims to Medicare for ambulance services without a beneficiary, or their authorized representative, authorizing Santiam to submit claims to Medicare and accept assignment on behalf of the patient.
