Quest Diagnostics Agreed to Pay $88,000 for Allegedly Violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law by Paying Remuneration to Physicians in the Form of Improper Processing and Handling Fees
After it self-disclosed conduct to OIG, Quest Diagnostics Incorporated (Quest), on behalf of its wholly-owned subsidiary, Quest Diagnostics TB, LLC formerly known as Oxford Immunotec, Inc. (OI), agreed to pay $88,780.74 for allegedly violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law provisions applicable to physician self-referrals and kickbacks. OIG alleged that from June 1, 2011, through December 31, 2016, OI, a clinical laboratory, paid remuneration in the form of collection, processing, and handling payments related to the collection of blood to physicians and physician groups. Quest acquired OI on November 6, 2018.
