Brookside Medical Home Visits Agreed to Pay $167,000 for Allegedly Violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law by Receiving Remuneration in the Form of Rebates
After it self-disclosed conduct to OIG, Brookside Medical Home Visits, LLC (Brookside), Indiana, agreed to pay $167,184 for allegedly violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law. OIG alleged that Brookside received remuneration from a biologic products manufacturer (the Manufacturer) in the form of rebates dependent upon the net volume of skin graft products Brookside purchased from the Manufacturer in a particular month. Invoices from the Manufacturer, however, did not reflect the rebates and Brookside used the Manufacturer’s inaccurate invoices when it sought reimbursement from Federal health care programs.
