BakerRipley Agreed to Pay $1.3 Million for Allegedly Violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law by Misspending Grant Funds on Sham Products and Services
After it self-disclosed conduct to OIG, BakerRipley, Texas, agreed to pay $1,387,762 for allegedly violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law. OIG alleged that a former BakerRipley director colluded with three vendors with whom she had existing financial and professional relationships to provide “sham” professional development products and services to BakerRipley’s Head Start and Early Head Start programs. As a result, BakerRipley paid for the sham professional development products and services for its Head Start and Early Head Start programs with HHS grant funds.
