AnMed Health Cannon Agreed to Pay $551,000 for Allegedly Violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law by Paying Remuneration to Physician in the Form of Space, Equipment, and Staff Costs

After it self-disclosed conduct to OIG, Cannon Memorial Hospital d/b/a AnMed Health Cannon (Cannon), South Carolina, agreed to pay $551,749.68 for allegedly violating the Civil Monetary Penalties Law including provisions applicable to kickbacks. OIG alleged that Cannon paid remuneration to two physicians in the form of space and lease rental, equipment lease rental, supplies, staff costs, radiation tech costs, and personal services contracts.
