Review of Pension Costs Claimed for Medicare Reimbursement by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mississippi for Fiscal Years 1997 Through 2009

Executive Summary

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mississippi (BCBS Mississippi), a Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) contractor, claimed $518,000 of unallowable pension costs for Medicare reimbursement for fiscal years 1997 through 2009. BCBS Mississippi administered Medicare Part A operations, through its wholly owned subsidiary TriSpan Health Services, Inc., under cost reimbursement contracts with CMS.
